Here's Why You Need An After Sun Skin Routine

My Daughter Made Me Do It

How did you spend your week? Did you get outdoors to play and soak up the sun?

I did. Gardening, berry-picking, harvesting calendula...of course! I also tried out something new! Stand-up paddle boarding. My daughter's been really wanting to go out and do this with me. Really Wanting. With so much on my plate, I've been reluctant. At the same time, I want to be a good mum. The beach plays a visible role on my vision board for the year. I don't want the summer to pass by without special family moments.

So, with trepidation, I went down to the beach with my daughter. I was nervous. When someone called out "Hello Chwynyn" (small town), I barely answered. Too stressed out to be friendly.

How did it go? I LOVED it. We've been to the beach the last 3 evenings, at high tide. No end in sight 🤩 I'm so glad I let my daughter lead me to something new! My husband and I also took a 1 1/2 hour beach walk yesterday. It's a special walk I promised myself we'd do this summer. I didn't even manage to do this walk once last summer. We're in a stretch of hot weather, now, so I'm making my vision reality.

Here's Why You Need An After Sun Skin Routine

Sun Continues Damaging Skin DNA For 3 Hours After The Sun

Its been a lot of beautiful family time. A lot of beach time, too. A whole lot of sun! All this sun is problematic. DID YOU KNOW? Sun CONTINUES to DAMAGE the DNA in your skin for up to 3 HOURS after you’re out of the sun? Here's why you need an after sun skin routine... Are you ready to start something new? A post-sun skincare routine!? Because, yes, the sun you've absorbed CONTINUES to DAMAGE the DNA in your skin for up to 3 HOURS after you’re out of the sun. You can't fix that by doing nothing.

It's the same as being in the sun 3 hours longer than you thought! And reapplying sunscreen doesn't make a difference once you're indoors. This is 3 more hours of sun shining down on your face and arms. Which is a big deal, seeing as 90% of the “ugly” changes in your skin are a result of sun (after all, sunshine is radiation). This 90% has nothing to do with the years-lived-age of your skin cells

Stop Sun Damage In Its Tracks Naturally

As soon as you get inside, you want to stop 🛑 the damage in its tracks. You want to reverse ⏪ the damage to your skin’s DNA. ASAP!!!

Flowers are proven to do this. And they’re way more effective when you put them on your skin, than when you drink them in a tea or throw them on your salad, or swallow them in a pill.

5 Best UV Flowers And Herbs For Reversing UV Damage

Here are 5 best UV reversing flowers and herbs: 🌻 Calendula 🌻 Rose 🌻 Plantain (the weed 🌿 not the banana 🍌 🌻 St. John’s Wort 🌻 Poplar Bud

It’s no surprise I include these flowers and herbs in Slow Botanicals products.

It's not the fragrance I use. Not their essential oil. No facades. The Real Deal. Real Botanicals. Hand-Picked.

And, remember, eating healthy food and drinking teas are not going to do the same thing. Of course, these are wonderful for your health and skin ❤️ But they’re not going to repair your skin DNA at the same high level as rubbing flowers into your skin.

Stop Sun Damage In Its Tracks, Naturally

Putting these ☝ botanicals directly on your skin is a shortcut and the perfect path rolled into 1.

On the other hand, eating flowers is the long, winding path, where botanicals get dropped along the way and don’t make it home.

Long day in the sun? Let's start a new post-sun skincare routine! Take care of your skin as soon as you get indoors! And then, again, at bedtime 🌞😴 Here's what I recommend: 1) Wash your face with the Pink Salt and Calendula Face Soap 2) Shower your body with Wild Poplar Moisturizing Soap as the poplar bud oil in it is very strong and this is a powerful botanical for healing sun damage. The oil in this soap sinks into your skin. 3) Smooth on Regenerating Night Cream - put it on when you get in out of the sun, even if it's not night yet. 4) Apply Best & Bright Eye Cream around your eyes, but then also below the corners of your mouth and the "problematic" part of your neck, which wants to wrinkle 😂 These are the places that seem to need extra help because the skin tissue here is more fragile and more susceptible to damage. You'll never regret taking care of your skin. Healed skin is beautiful skin.

The calendula face soap is a marvel! With every use my skin is looking and feeling better, texture and firmness improving. It was a progressive path as at first, was clearly repairing, I could see the transition and it unclogging pores and transforming my complexion. Thank you for making such an extraordinary product!! 💕"
