Make Winter Solstice Bright with Slow Beauty

Today, on the first complete day of winter, sunrise where I live is at 8:04am. The sun sets at 4:18pm. That's 8 hours and 14 minutes of daylight! How about where you live? How do you feel about this?

Dark of Winter

I find this time of year exciting! Yes, I did just write that 🙂 I love knowing I'm part of a natural world, where we're all connected into rhythms that are larger than each of us alone. You know how very differently you feel now than you do at the height of summer. Yes, I know it can be a hard time. And - there's no denying the difference.

But it's the life coursing through us, playing with our very own circadian rhythms, that makes this contrast so distinct and so utterly unavoidable!

This day of darkness. These weeks of darkness. They make me feel more alive than any other time of year.

In busy lives, filled with electric lights and all sorts of technology, it's easy to lose sight that we're part of nature. That we embody nature. Today, we all feel it. To me, that's something to celebrate!

Make Winter Solstice Bright with Slow Beauty

I mentioned in November that I'd recorded a podcast/Youtube interview on the benefits of slow beauty during menopause and perimenopause. This week, I was touched to receive these words in an email from Clarissa Kristjansson of Thrive Thru Menopause:

"Thank you so much for this beautiful, soulful interview- perfect for the winter solstice when we should be slowing down."

Living in Sweden, Clarissa knows all about the truth of winter solstice! Both she and I would love to lift your spirits on this winter day. We offer this episode to you, to make winter solstice bright with slow beauty and slow living.

Listen in now to our conversation, on youtube:

Or by podcast! Use this link or check out the episode wherever you listen to your podcasts.

Here are keypoints in our interview:

  1. What is Slow Living 00:6:17

  2. Defining Slow Beauty 00:9:48

  3. How you can use herbs internally and on your skin for maximum benefit 00:15:49

  4. Specific Skincare considerations for perimenopause and menopause 00:19:38

  5. How to align your skin care with circadian rhythms 00:23:30

I share through these "keypoints" my intention to send light into your heart and your day! I attempt to be thoughtful and to highlight new ways slow beauty can make your day-to-day life more joyful for you.

I sincerely want the best for you.

Wishing heartfelt happy holidays to you and yours,

Chwynyn

PS that technology I mentioned...it made for a lag in the recording. I'm not actually talking over Clarissa 😬
