How do you take separate ingredients, and blend them together just right, to make a cake that doesn't flop?
Oh my goodness! You're asking the wrong person 🙄😂🤣
What Is The Purpose Of Emulsifier In Skin Cream?
Ask me another question!
Q) How do conventional, mass-produced, industrial manufacturers put together skin creams so they come out smooth, luscious, silky, every time?
A) They use a whole lot of ingredients! Look at your typical label. Do you have a tube of moisturizer in your house? Can you grab it right now?
It's the emulsifiers holding everything together. Typically, companies don't spend much on these. They use the cheapest emulsifiers they can get their hands on.
You see, water and oil don't mix well. We all know that. If you're lucky enough to get them to f i n a l l y blend into one, they certainly don't stay put.
Most skin creams are made of oil and water.
And a bunch of other stuff (look again at the tube in your hand). Manufacturers need emulsifiers to bind it all together.
Emulsifiers hold together fragrance, preservatives, foaming agents, anti-foaming agents, dyes, lab-sourced active ingredients, essential oils, and so on.
Emulsifiers tend to be a set of ingredients that aren't toxic. 😅 Excellent, right?!
...but, they're known to irritate your skin 😥 (Downer) ...and dry it out.
This defeats the whole purpose of applying moisturizer in the first place.
I'm a broken record: dry skin causes skin problems and sensitivity --> skin problems and sensitivity cause dry skin. Spinning round. Like a record, baby.

Why Beeswax is the Best Ingredient in Quality Skincare
My ingredients are simple. Botanicals infused into certified organic extra virgin olive oil. Sometimes I add certified organic coconut oil in there, too. They stay together.
Since it's all (certified organic) oil, there's nothing to separate.
You'd guess I don't need an emulsifier.
You're right. I don't!!!
Or do I?
I do choose to use an emulsifier. But I'm NOT using it for the same purpose as the big companies.
I'm not using it to make oil stick to water.... and junk.
I'm using this expensive ingredient because it's amazing for your skin!
This one makes your skin less dry.
It makes the botanical oils stick to your skin! (PSA some conventional emulsifiers actually pull the moisture --> out of your skin --> and dump it in the air around you!!! What?)
Let's add up the positives.
My all natural, certified organic emulsifier:
🐝 Skin softening
🐝 Skin lubricating
🐝 Delays collagen break-down
🐝 Regenerative
🐝 Quickens growth of new skin cells
🐝 Repairs damaged skin faster
🐝 Reduces water loss from your skin
🐝 Becomes a protective barrier
🐝 Antibacterial
🐝 Anti-inflammatory
🐝 Antioxidative
🐝 Antimicrobial
🐝 Antiseptic
Wow. Right?
Can you see why I'm not ever going to consider cutting corners - or cutting the recipe - with an inexpensive & inferior alternative.
Where do all the positives come from?
Beeswax, of course! You knew it all along. Now you know exactly why beeswax is the best ingredient in quality skincare.

Keep it simple and make every ingredient count. That's my philosophy and I'm sticking to it.
It's why all my skin creams are made of 1) botanicals hand-picked at their peek, 2) olive oil, 3) beeswax, and sometimes 4) coconut oil.
Do you see why I'm not experienced enough to bake a proper cake?!
Far too many ingredients for me to handle 🤦♀️😁
...and relax, knowing everything you're putting on your skin is pure & doing its thing.
